HBO pulled ahead of Netflix this year, taking home 37 Emmy wins

earned its first Emmy nominations in 2013, it went into the award show as a dark horse. The fact that the company ended up winning three awards for “House of Cards” that year was groundbreaking, as it was the first time that an online exclusive won television’s biggest prize.
However, over the past five years, Netflix has become a regular at the prestigious award show, upstaging many traditional television networks. Last year Netflix beat out HBO for the most nominations, scoring 112 nods to HBO’s 108. This year, HBO
came back swinging with a total of 137 nominations to Netflix’s 117.
