02.04.2019 Release of the Business Plan Export for the creation of business plans

Hamburg, 02.04.2019 - Whether in start-ups or established companies: Business plans are drawn up regularly to support decision-making. The tedious process of creating an adequate business plan, including extensive data research, is now noticeably accelerated by Statista's Business Plan Export. A ready-made data package is generated directly from the 1.4 million data points available when a target industry and region are combined. There are 26 industries and almost 50 regions to choose from. Embedded in a professionally prepared Excel tool, users can immediately set up a market model or estimate their own company's long-term success in the profit and loss statement.

In the age of digitization, the search is always on for new business models. As subscription concepts celebrate broad successes, and social networks stand among the largest companies thanks to targeted advertising, it is clear that the manufacture and sale of physical products is not a requirement for success. Nevertheless, new business models and ideas raise fundamental questions: How do costs and revenues balance each other out? How do digital revenues spread among the population? How can the future market share of a new idea be estimated?

Market models and business plans provide valuable information and answers to these questions. However, data research, processing and preparation are associated with high time expenditure. Statista's Business Plan Export solves this dilemma by combining a wide range of functions to solve essential challenges during model and plan creation. The export is suitable for both internal business case modelling and external market modelling. In contrast to other Excel templates, users are freed of the need to conduct data research.

The Business Plan Export is available at statista.com/business-plan-export.

Methodology

The data supplied for the Business Plan Export is identical to that for Digital Market Outlook and Consumer Market Outlook. The time series considered covers up to 15 years (2016 at the earliest to 2030 at the latest).

The tool is structurally based on the models that have proven themselves over many years and are in use at Statista and continuously being improved. Similarly, the template for the profit and loss statement (P&L statement) is based on many years of project experience. Here, abstract key figures such as company turnover are broken down into easily estimable figures (repurchase rate, price, expected new customers,...).
