Italy: opinion on EU Directive on online banking 2019

According to the results of a survey on the awareness of the new EU Directive on online banking* in Italy, 57 percent of Italians said that they are in favor of the changes in the way they are supposed to access their online banking (OTP tokens will be substituted by a message on the smartphone). The survey was conducted by YouGov Italia about tree months before the PSD2 directive enters into force. Only 9 percent of the respondents were not at all in favor of the changes that the EU Directive will introduce for online banking access.

* The source adds the following information: "From September 14, 2019, to access online banking services smartphones will substitute One Time Password (OTP) tokens. In fact to access the bank account and carry out transactions online, a password will be generated in the banking app or sent via SMS.
