This statistic shows the results of a worldwide survey of internet users assessing their trust in organizations to manage and protect their personal data. During the October 2018 survey, it was found that 65 percent of respondents stated that they trusted online shopping websites to do so. Social media providers were less inclined to be trusted by consumers, with only 6 percent of the respondents stating that they trust companies in this sector to manage and protect sensitive information.
