The 2020 Democratic Party presidential debates generated a large volume of Twitter buzz. Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) generated almost 310,000 Twitter handle mentions during the second debate. Second-ranked Elizabeth Warren generated 277,000 mentions during the second debate. Due to the crowded field of Democratic nomination candidates (as of August 5, 2019, there were 24 declared candidates), each of the first two debates took place during two consecutive nights, with a maximum of ten candidates per night. The third debate is scheduled to take place in Houston, Texas, on September 12 to 13, 2019.
