Knowledge of lupus and its symptoms among U.S. adults as of 2019
A survey from 2019 found that only 16 percent of adults in the U.S. were very familiar with lupus and its symptoms, while 14 percent had never heard of the disease. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in various parts of the body including the joints, kidneys, brain, and heart.
