Between the years 2015 and 2017, roughly 15 percent of American women aged between 15 and 20 years had a pelvic examination carried out within the past 12 months, compared to some 57 percent for those American women aged between 21 and 29 years. In the U.S., pelvic examinations are commonly performed as part of routine physical check-ups among women.
