Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by waste management in Russia were largely produced by the disposal of solid waste, which amounted to over 70 billion tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) equivalent in 2021. Furthermore, the wastewater treatment sector emitted approximately 26 million tons of CO₂ equivalent of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
