Major shopping apps' penetration rate in China 2019

As of June 2019, the Chinese e-commerce platform Taobao led the shopping app ranking in China with a penetration rate of 52.5 percent. Among the five major shopping apps, Taobao and Tmall are owned by Alibaba while JD.com and Pinduoduo are backed by Tencent. With an increasing smartphone penetration rate, e-commerce is booming in China.
