Production of good wine in South Africa 2000-2018
As of 2018, the preliminary volume of good wine produced in South Africa amounted to 824.34 million gross liters, which constituted roughly 85.9 percent of the total wine crop production. This represented a reduction of 10.3 percent from the preceding year. Between 2000 and 2018, it is observed that the overall good wine production trend was a positive one. However, several drops in good wine production can be recognized in 2001, 2005, 2010, and 2016 with drops of 1.8, 9.8, 3.1, and 7.2 percent respectively. These drops were possibly caused by lower rainfall levels which affect crops used for wine production.
