Slave exports from Thirteen Colonies by state and year 1768-1772
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, between 1768 and 1772, almost 1,600 slaves were exported from the Thirteen colonies and Florida to other European colonies in the Americas. Of this 1.6 thousand, almost 1.2 thousand were exported from South Carolina; South Carolina was also the most common destination for slaves who were imported into the Thirteen Colonies in these years. Coincidentally, Virginia, which was the second most common destination for slaves imported into the colonies between 1768 and 1772, did not record any exports at all during this time. Delaware and New Jersey were the only other colonies without any slave exports in these years.
