Lowest unemployment rates in Spain by province 2023
The national unemployment figures have improved significantly over the last few years after a sharp increase caused by the 2008 financial crisis, which launched the country to rates of approximately 26 percent in 2014 up from a record low of 8 percent in 2006. In more recent developments, the national figures started to pick up again due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, which left the country with an unemployment rate of over 16 percent as of the third quarter of 2020.
