Tree cover extent in West Africa 2001-2020
As of 2020, West Africa had an area of 41.8 million hectares of tree cover extent, against the 48.5 million hectares recorded 10 years earlier. This means that a total of 6.7 million hectares of tree cover was lost within the last decade. On the whole, compared to 2001, the extent of tree cover increased in the rainforest region.
