Number of agency banking transactions in Kenya 2012-2022
The number of banking transactions undertaken through bank agents in Kenya increased to roughly 158 million in 2022, a slight increase in comparison to the previous year. The report mentions the increase in total transactions was mainly as a result of increases in transactions relation to cash withdrawals, payment of bills and other types of general transactions. Agency banking allows commercial banks to contract third parties to offer financial products and services on their behalf. Traditional banks could, therefore, extend their network without the need of increasing the number of branches.
