Impact of exclusive content on new subscribers in the U.S. 2021
The announcement of exclusive content has a strong impact on U.S. Americans subscribing to streaming services, according to a survey from 2021. 88 percent of consumers who subscribed to Netflix in December 2020 or January 2021 stated the exclusive content was a reason to sign up. Out of these respondents, 59 percent said it was the main reason. 77 percent of HBO subscribers claimed the announcement of new Warner Bros. movies was a reason, and out of them, 48 percent said it was the main reason signing up to the VoD service.
