Share of coal in energy production Japan 2016-2022
In 2022, the share of coal in the total energy generation in Japan amounted to 27.8 percent, which marks the first time in ten years in which the share did not shrink compared to the previous year. Even though the share decreased continuously over the past decade, coal remained the second largest energy source after natural gas.
