Share of fraud costs for online merchants in the U.S. 2020-2022, by channel
In 2022, a survey conducted among e-commerce merchants in the United States indicated a reduction in the proportion of fraud costs attributed to online transactions. While the mobile channel still accounted for a significant part of fraud costs among U.S. e-merchants, their share decreased slightly. In contrast, fraudsters appeared to focus more on in-person and call center transactions.
