Choice of health care institutions in Mexico in 2021, by type
According to a survey conducted in Mexico in 2021, approximately 36 percent of respondents in need of medical care in the country chose a private health institution, while 24 percent received medical care from the Mexican Institute of Social Security. Another 18 percent attended health facilities near pharmacies. In that year, four in ten respondents who had no health insurance and sought out medical services attended a private health care facility for medical attention.
