According to a survey carried out in August 2022, less than two months before the Brazilian presidential elections, former president Luiz Iznácio Lula da Silva was particularly popular among women, with 46 percent of female respondents claiming that they would vote for him in the first round of the elections. Furthermore, the share of males surveyed that said that they would vote for Lula was only six percentage points higher that those who intended to vote for Jair Bolsonaro.
