Import value of seafood into Angola 2015-2021
In 2021, Angola imported approximately 13.8 million U.S. dollars worth of seafood, this included fish, crustaceans, and mollusks. This was a significantly lower value compared to the previous years under review. This is likely connected to COVID-19 related supply chain issues. During the pandemic, seafood, being a perishable food item, encountered significant obstacles. The limitations imposed on international travel led to a decrease in air freight capacity, directly impacting the export of perishable goods that heavily relied on air transportation. Consequently, these products encountered logistical challenges, resulting in spoilage and financial setbacks for both producers and importers.
