More than half of Mexicans reported that their volume of debt either increased or stayed the same between 2020 and 2022. In that last year, approximately 26 percent of Mexicans were less indebted than in previous years increased, which was a higher share than in 2020 or 2021. During the same period, most Mexican households experienced a decrease in savings.
