Domestic freight transport volume share of trucks in Japan FY 2017-2021, by type
In the fiscal year 2021, private-use trucks transported approximately 30.2 percent of the entire domestic freight volume in Japan, while commercial-use trucks transported around 61.2 percent. More than 90 percent of domestic cargo was transported via trucks, making it by far the most prevalent mode of freight transport in Japan's logistics industry.
