Use of oral antibiotics in the last 12 months in the EU, as of 2022
Antibiotics are medications that can kill or hinder the growth of bacteria which cause infections in people and animals. In 2022, around 23 percent of respondents in the EU reported that they had taken oral antibiotics in the previous 12 months. This statistic displays the share of individuals who had taken antibiotics orally such as tablets, powder or syrup in the last 12 months in EU27, as of March 2022.
