Interest in A2A payments in the U.S. in 2023, by potential rewards offered
Most American consumers who tried pay-by-bank for the first time in 2023 did so because they could earn rewards, with cash back being the most popular. This is according to a survey held in January 2023, specifically asking for online bank transfers – a type of A2A payments that bypass card rails. Interestingly, respondents who used online bank transfers were more likely to say they preferred them than the general respondents to the survey. Respondents who used the alternative payment method especially displayed interest in gift cards and reward points, although cash back remained the most popular type of reward program.
