That year, the US generated approximately 279.6 billion U.S. dollars from its operations, which was the highest value since 2015. Moreover, some 155.12 billion dollars out of the operating revenue came from the passenger fares.
Future of passenger traffic
As of 2022, air carriers in the United States enplaned 347.9 million passengers. This was the third most prominent figure recorded from 1990 to 2022, even though the effects of the coronavirus pandemic were still persistent. By 2042, air passenger traffic in the US is expected to grow significantly; in particular, passenger numbers to or from the Pacific region are forecasted to grow by 10 percent annually.
