In 2022, the market capitalization of the Shanghai Stock Exchange amounted to over 6.7 trillion U.S. dollars. It was the largest bourse based on market capitalization in the Greater China region. In 2022, the market capitalization of the Shanghai Stock Exchange which trades in B shares amounted to 13.3 billion U.S. dollars. B-shares can only be traded by foreign investors, while A shares may only be traded by Chinese citizens.
