This statistic shows the results of a survey among American grandparents in 2011 on the reasons to spend money on their grandchildren. 95 percent of the respondents stated they spend money for birthday gifts for their grandchildren, whereas 23 percent said they spend money in order to help their grandchildren with medical or dental expenses.
