Estimated Medicare revenue sources 2018

Medicare relies on revenue from a variety of sources in order to provide medical coverage to millions of U.S. residents. As of 2018 approximately 43 percent of the Medicare revenues were generated from general revenue of the program. Comparatively, 36 percent of the revenues were generated from payroll taxes.
