Food allergy: prevalence among children in the U.S. by geographic area 2009/2010

This statistic shows the the results of a survey among U.S. households with at least one child younger than 18 years. The survey was conducted from June 2009 to February 2010, asking the respondents about the prevalence of food allergies among their children. Food allergy prevalence was found to be most common in urban centers with a prevalence rate of 9.8 percent. In rural areas, the prevalence was significantly lower with a rate of 6.2 percent.
