In the 2017/18 academic year there were 16.4 students for every one teacher in the United Kingdom, a slight deterioration on the previous year. Of all school types in the UK, nursery schools had the most children per teacher at 22.2, followed by primary schools at 20.6 and secondary schools which had 15.6 pupils per teacher.
