Share of unlicensed vehicles in traffic by tax class in Great Britain (UK) 2008-2017
This statistic compares the share of unlicensed vehicles in traffic in Great Britain between 2008 and 2013 according to the vehicle's tax class. The share estimates were calculated from the Department for Transport Roadside Survey. The percentage of unlicensed cars in traffic rose for all tax classes in 2010 which is most likely a result of the economic recession. Motorcycles made up the greatest share of unlicensed vehicles in Britain reaching three percent of all vehicle tax classes in 2010, however, while maintaining its high share of unlicensed vehicles, the share of unlicensed motorcycles rose to 8.1 percent by 2017.
