Misperceived weight status amon U.S boys and girls by FIPR 2005-2012
This statistic shows the weight status misperception among boys and girls in the United States, aged 8 to 15 years in the period from 2005 to 2012, based on family income-to-poverty ratio (FIPR). During these years, 33.4 percent of boys coming from families that are under 130% of the FIPR, misperceived their weight status. Obesity among children is a major health concern that can lead to many complications in adulthood. Correct self-perception of weight in children may also be associated with appropriate weight control behaviors in children and adolescents.
