Selected automakers' U.S. YTD market share in 3rd quarter 2019, by key manufacturer
Car manufacturers - U.S. YTD market share - Q3 2019
General Motors was the market leader in terms of U.S. light vehicle sales during the third quarter of 2019. Between July and September 2019, consumers in the United States bought about 737,000 GM vehicles, making GM the producer of every sixth automobile sold there in the three months ended September 30, 2019.

 Plateauing sales after stellar spell

U.S. light vehicle sales are stalling: the U.S. automotive industry sold some 12.7 million light vehicles between January and September 2019. This compares to about 13 million units one year before. The trend is no different for America’s most popular manufacturer. GM’s light vehicle sales remained flat across the first three quarters of 2019, compared with the figures reported for the same nine months in 2018. However, one must admit that the U.S. automotive industry had several good years between 2015 and 2018, when consumers purchased more than 17 million light vehicles annually for an unprecedented four years in a row. This stellar spell might come to an end in 2019.
