The leading investment firm in the United Kingdom in 2021, both in terms of global and UK assets under management, was the American firm BlackRock. While the second largest investment firm globally was State Street, the United Kingdom based company Legal & General Investment Management ranked second in UK assets under management. Among asset managers headquartered in the United Kingdom, Legal & General is the largest.

The United Kingdom is the leading country in investment management in Europe, with more than a third of the total European assets under management. The net value of assets under management in the country was more than double as high as in France, the second largest country. Most of the assets under management in the country are managed for institutional clients, of which over 40 percent are pension funds.
