Bank of England: total amount of banknotes issued in the UK 2003/04-2017/2018
The statistic illustrates the number of British banknotes of all denominations issued by the Bank of England in the United Kingdom (UK) from 2003/2004 to 2017/2018. This includes all five, ten, twenty and fifty British pounds notes. It can be seen that the number of British banknotes issued fluctuated during the period under observation, reaching a total of more than 1.1 billion notes as of 2017/2018. The highest number of British banknotes issued in one year was over 1.23 billion notes, in the period 2007/2008, with the lowest number of banknotes (639 million notes) being issued in the year 2005/2006.
