Arts engagement by gender in England 2012-2016 survey

This statistic depicts the distribution of adults engaging with the arts in the last year in England by gender, between 2012 and 2016. Over the four year period, arts engagement remained fairly stable across both genders. In 2013 and 2014, 58 percent of women had engaged in the arts within the year prior to survey compared to 42 percent of male respondents. 'Engagement' refers to attending and/or participating in the arts sector, for example visiting an art gallery or giving a theatre performance.
