Europe: number of movie tickets sold 2019-2022

Throughout 2022, movie theaters across Europe sold approximately 809 million tickets, up 36.2 percent from the previous year. Despite the growth, the 2022 figure was still under the nearly 1.35-billion attendance recorded in 2019, before the COVID-19 outbreak. Similarly, Europe's box office gross increased in 2022, yet fell behind pre-pandemic heights.
