In Canada, the make-up industry was worth more than 860 million Canadian dollars in 2014, with face make-up accounting for 32.2 percent of the make-up market that year.

Among the leading companies in the make-up market in Canada are Procter & Gamble and L’Oreal. Some of Procter & Gamble’s make-up brands include drugstore labels Covergirl and Max Factor, while L’Oreal brands include higher end labels Yves Saint Laurent, Lancome and Urban Decay. In 2014, a survey found 49 percent of Canadian consumers thought products from mass market brands were just as effective as those from higher cost prestige brands.

In Canada, supermarkets and hypermarkets were the largest make-up retailers in 2014. Supermarket chains Loblaws, Sobeys and Metro, listed among the leading stores consumers regularly shop for personal care and beauty products.
