In 2021, of the total passenger-kilometers traveled by land in the United Kingdom (UK), 4.9 percent were by railway and 3.1 percent were by bus and coaches. Passenger cars held the highest share of the passenger transport by land, at nearly 91 percent of the total passenger-kilometers traveled.
