Facebook penetration rate was quite high in all age groups, with approximately 86 percent of 15 to 29 year olds and almost 63 percent of people aged 70 and older. The second biggest social media platform was LinkedIn with about 1,7 million profiles created in Denmark. Differences among age groups were more visible in the Linkedin penetration rate. People aged 40 to 49 years have used LinkedIn the most (37,8 percent in 2016) while about a quarter (26 percent) of 15 to 29 year olds have used the professional social network in Denmark the same year. Snapchat, a photo and video sharing application, was third with a bit over 1 million users in 2016. Snapchat was a lot more popular among the younger generation with over 60 percent of users in the age group 15 to 29 years in Denmark in 2016.
