Daily time spent playing Pokémon GO in Canada 2016
Pokémon GO in Canada – additional information
The Pokémon GO Canada rollout started on July 17, 2016 and the craze immediately swept across the nation, similarly to other countries, as half of the Canadian players confessed to spending more time with the game than with social media. During the week that followed, one third of Canadians admitted to have spent an hour per day playing Pokémon GO, and almost one in every four consumers spent two hours a day with the game. The augmented reality game app was found to be more popular among female players, as over 40 percent of women accessing the game expressed to have played for one hour per day, compared to 26 percent of male users who said the same.
In general, the level of awareness of Pokémon GO was slightly higher among Canadians between the ages of 18 to 34 than those aged 13 to 17. What is more, 44 percent of Millennials in the country had installed Pokémon GO on their phones, as opposed to 37 percent of Canadian teenagers who had the game downloaded. Yet, the latter group of players was more susceptible to the game’s charms, and consequently nearly half of consumers aged 13 to 17 agreed that Pokémon GO was taking over their lives.
