Purchasing channels of sports bicycles in the Netherlands 2016, by channel
This statistic shows the share of cyclists purchasing their next sports bicycles in the Netherlands in 2016, by purchasing channel. As of 2016, close to 70 percent of the Dutch cyclists will purchase their next sports bike at a specialty store and therefore want specific advice on their bicycle purchase. The general bicycle stores was with 60 percent the second most chosen option, whereas the online store was with approximately 15 percent significantly a less chosen option to buy bicycles in the Netherlands.
When looking at another aspect, the bicycle sales in the Netherlands, 40 percent of the new bicycles sold in 2018 were electrical bicycles, an increase of 30 percent when comparing it to 2008. However, even though the demand for electric bicycles increased, the share of normal tour of city bicycles sales remained higher with roughly 40 percent.
