Expenditure on the ENCTS in England from 2010-2017

*The English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) is the minimum statutory concession, providing free off-peak local bus travel to eligible older and disabled people anywhere in England.
**Total net current expenditure refers to expenditure on all aspects of concessionary travel, including ENCTS, discretionary concessions - e.g. travel outside the statutory time period or on other modes, youth concession schemes - and administrative costs.
*** In London, the statutory minimum concession for London residents provides free travel during the statutory time period on the London Local Transport Network - including underground and trams. However, the percentages reported above is the reimbursement to bus operators as a percentage of total expenditure.
**** Refers to the six Former Metropolitan Counties - Tyne & Wear, Merseyside, Greater Manchester, West Midlands, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.
