Italy: share of outbound same-day trips by purpose 2019

In 2019, the highest share of same-day trips taken by Italian outbound tourists related to leisure and recreation purposes. Data show that roughly 74 percent of all same-day trips abroad were made for these reasons. Moreover, about 14 percent of one-day travels taken by Italian outbound tourists related to shopping reasons in 2019.

Other reason includes: health care, spa treatments based or not based on a medical prescription, accompanying relatives/friends.

Culture includes: visits to the artistic, monumental and archaeological heritage, visits to the natural heritage and the cultural landscape, visits to taste the food and wine specialties of the place or to attend folkloric events, shows, exhibitions, concerts, etcetera.
