Europe: most popular global news sites on social media 2017

This statistic displays the leading global news media sites on the social networking platforms in Europe as of April 2017, by number of links shared. During the survey period in April 2017, it was found that reuters.com ranked first, with approximately 850,000 links to its site shared, as the most popular media site on European social media. Ranked second and third were nytimes.com and bbc.com, with approximately 704,000 and 566,000 shares, respectively.

"The rating metrics is popularity in the social networks, which we estimate by counting number of messages that contain links to the content published in any site related to the mass media. The messages published by the official accounts of the rated brand have been expelled from the research.
We handled 75 MM messages published in April in the social networks in Europe. We discovered and expanded all 9,9 MM short links (such as t.co, goo.gl, etc) those messages contained and marked out the top 10 thousand domains, which most links led to."
