During a survey conducted from June to August 2018, approximately 64.6 percent of male respondents from 18 Latin American countries stated they used WhatsApp. Meanwhile, 63.7 percent of female interviewees claimed to use that social network.

Overall, more than 28 percent of people in the region recently said they do not use any social network.

The survey was carried out in 18 countries of the region (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela). In each of the countries the number of respondents amounted to between 1,000 and 1,200. The samples were representative for the population of each of the countries.
