Main reasons non-owners do not currently own a home U.S. 2022

According to a December 2022 survey, among the main reasons why non-homeowners do not currently own a home in the United States are not having enough money saved for a down payment (34 percent) and low income (31 percent). Almost a third of respondents also said that they are currently holding off on buying a house due to their credit score (30 percent). In 2022, the homeownership rate reached around 65.5 percent in the United States.
