PG-13 films' revenue share in total box office gross in the U.S. & Canada 1995-2022
In 2022, PG-13-rated movies accounted for almost two-thirds (64.63 percent) of the box office revenue in the United States and Canada, collectively known as the North American cinema market. A decade earlier, in 2012, the share stood at about 52.10 percent. "PG-13" means that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) deemed the films to contain some material that may be inappropriate for children under 13. "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" were among the most-viewed PG-13 movies in the U.S. and Canada in 2022.
