Deaths from Chikungunya virus in Brazil 2017-2022
In 2022, at least 94 deaths were confirmed to have been caused by the Chikungunya virus in Brazil, up from the 14 confirmed deaths reported a year earlier. That year, Chikungunya suspected casualties amounted to 15 cases in the South American country. Ceará, a Brazilian state in the Northeast region, recorded the highest number of probable chikungunya cases in Brazil as of 2022.
