Chikungunya cases in Brazil 2017-2022, by region
In 2022, Brazil reported over 174 thousand probable cases of the chikungunya virus, the second-largest value recorded since the beginning of the indicated period. That year, approximately 148.4 thousand chikungunya infections occurred in the Northeast region, representing around 85 percent of all probable cases nationwide. Meanwhile, possible infections from the chikungunya virus decreased in the Brazilian Southeast compared to the previous year.
